SEEK’s advertised-job data, refreshed in May 2026, shows an indicative annual range of $130,000–$150,000 across Australia and $135,000–$150,000 in Sydney for that job title. These are market indicators, not guaranteed pay for a particular role. Advertisements use the title for different levels of responsibility: project coordinator, project manager, senior project manager and development or programme lead.

Jobs and Skills Australia publishes occupation data for construction managers and construction project managers, but these categories are not a clean client-side salary survey. For example, its Construction Managers profile reports median full-time weekly earnings for the broader occupation. It should not be presented as the typical pay for every client-side appointment.

What makes salaries differ?

• Scope and authority: managing one stage of a small fit-out is different from carrying budget and programme responsibility across a major capital works programme.
• Employer: a government agency, university, developer, property consultancy and specialist advisory firm may use different pay structures.
• Experience: procurement, contract administration, design management, stakeholder negotiation and occupied-site delivery are valuable in different combinations.
• Location and work pattern: metropolitan and regional markets, site travel, overtime and hybrid arrangements affect the whole package.
• Employment model: permanent salary, fixed-term contract and day-rate consulting cannot be compared by headline number alone.

How should you compare two offers?
