Discuss your project

Your project, clearly managed

One clear view for the client.

Construction projects can involve an owner, occupiers, consultants, a builder, specialist trades and authorities. Each has a role, but the client still needs someone to hold the brief, bring information together and prepare decisions.

Team Vanguard provides client-side project management for Sydney commercial buildings, refurbishments and fitouts. Andrew Frost brings more than 30 years of construction industry experience across project delivery, client relationships, design and commercial coordination. We agree the scope and delegated authority for each engagement, whether you need support for one stage or through the full project.

What we manage

Support from the brief to completion.

The appointment sets out what Team Vanguard will coordinate, report and recommend, and which decisions remain with the client or contract administrator.

Brief and delivery plan

Define the outcome, users, constraints, budget basis, stakeholders and approval pathway. Establish the project programme and the decisions the client needs to make before design or procurement advances.

Design and procurement

Coordinate consultants, design deliverables and information releases. Make scope gaps and interfaces visible, plan tender documents and help the client compare offers on a consistent basis.

Construction and client reporting

Track progress, changes, cost, risks, open actions and stakeholder requirements against the agreed plan. Bring issues to the authorised decision maker with their options and consequences clear.

Completion and handover

Coordinate outstanding work, defects, approvals, training and operating information. Check that the agreed records and asset data are ready for the people who will use and manage the building.

How we work

Client management is part of project management.

A programme or cost report only helps when the right person understands the decision it calls for. We establish who needs to decide, what information they need and when the decision affects the project.

Agree authority

Set the scope of our appointment and the roles of the client, consultants, builder and contract administrator. Keep instructions and approvals with the people authorised to give them.

Make information usable

Bring design, programme, budget and risk information into a clear client report. Record assumptions and outstanding decisions rather than allowing them to disappear in meeting notes.

Follow decisions through

Assign actions, dates and owners. Coordinate the response across the project team and report back on what changed, what remains open and what the client must decide next.

Before you appoint

Questions clients ask.

When should we bring in a client-side project manager?

Ideally, before the brief, design and procurement decisions are locked in. A manager can also join a project already underway to clarify the current position, open decisions and the next stage. Read our guide to appointment timing.

Is this the same role as the builder's project manager?

No. The builder manages delivery of its contract. A client-side manager works for the client under an agreed appointment, helping the client coordinate its objectives, information and decisions. The role does not automatically carry authority to instruct the builder or certify claims. See the role comparison.

Can you support just one stage?

Yes. Support can be scoped to a brief, design and tender stage, a live refurbishment, tenant coordination or handover. We define deliverables, reporting and responsibilities before work starts.

What does an engagement cost?

It depends on the project's stage, duration, complexity and level of authority and reporting required. Share your brief and we can propose a scope for the work you actually need. Read our fee guide.
