Do Software Companies Lie about Digital Twins?

Asset owners and investors rely on what Digital Twin Software Companies say about their software and future prospects. It’s tempting to lump misstatements into the broad category of “lies.”
Is it ok to assume that the company executives have a perfect knowledge of the truth? Do they intentionally over-promise and under-deliver?
IS IT ALWAYS ABOUT THE DATA?
Data driven products like digital twins are often marketed as magically unlocking the ability to save time, money and even bring better health and well-being. But does the risks of data collection outweigh the benefits? In recent times we have witnessed what mixing greed, and data can produce in the ride sharing world.
IS OPEN SOURCE THE WAY FORWARD?
The potential benefits for digital twins are obvious, at Vanguard Freadman we have witnessed first hand the massive benefits on projects like Hong Kong Airport (Digital Twin). If we can keep data secure, and open source it is seemingly very possible to make the benefits of Digital Twins available to the masses. If we allow software companies to own the data, will we be held to ransom?
